Daily Audio Bible is a world leading bible podcast based around the plan of reading the entire bible in one year. But beyond the podcast, the Daily Audio Bible website is a place where thousands of people from all over the world come to pray for each other, support one another, and get the resources they need daily for their own spiritual walk. Our job, as the designers of the new website, was to create a user experience that would be highly intuitive whether you’re a long time member or a first time visitor from any place on earth.

Step 1: Strategy & Sitemap
The first part of our process was to assess the old website and create a sitemap based on it. After we took account of all the content and the interface, we were able to see where the major improvements could be made. The key to creating a more intuitive interface was to simplify as much as possible and create a clear hierarchy and user flow for the new site.

Wireframing
Our web design team was then able to take our new sitemap and create wireframes based on the new page types and groupings. Our main goal with the front page was to create a live page where users could go to and scroll to get all the necessary updates and information they might need. This included listening to the latest podcast, viewing the featured initiatives, upcoming events, new store items, and how to make your donation.
The second step of wireframing was to design an element that would help new users to quickly become familiar with everything they needed to know about the Daily Audio Bible. To accomplish this, we created a tour/suggested page call to action for pages grouped together. For instance, anyone who clicks on the “About” page will be taken to the “mission statement”, which will then prompt the user to continue on to the “core values” followed by “what we believe”. This allowed any user to get through and understand each page with relative ease and quickness.

Graphic Design
The next step of our process was graphic design and user experience. The overall theme for Daily Audio Bible is the journey of life that we’re all on. And the idea that you can easily pick up Daily Audio Bible’s reading plan and become a part of the community no matter where you are in your journey.
To communicate this idea, we used journey and travel themed photography throughout the site. And more specifically we made sure the images reflected the idea of inviting the user along in the journey because of the community aspect. The brand’s color palette was already established, but to make it refreshing and to match the journey theme, we introduced gradients to the brand. This communicated change, which adds the perfect touch to a theme about the paths of our lives.

In Review
We are very happy with the reception we received from the new Daily Audio Bible website. And perhaps the best part was getting to see the community jump right in and start utilizing the new site. It is very encouraging to see people on the prayer wall page supporting one another through prayer and inspirational words.
