The Daily Audio Bible is a non-profit ministry with a daily bible podcast that reaches a large international audience. They also offer their own selection of premium coffee blends which is sold on their website.
Interested in offering a curated selection of coffees as a subscription service, they approached Light Up the Dark to develop the online systems and website necessary to bring Daily Audio Bible coffee to the world.
We started the project by going through a strategy phase with Daily Audio Bible. The primary goal of the site was to convert visitors into subscribers of the coffee delivery service so we identified all of the key elements that needed to be part of the website to accomplish that. Those elements were:
- Make the coffee subscription very clear and obvious.
The idea of a coffee subscription is relatively new so we needed to make it clear that this is a subscription and we were not just selling one time coffee purchases.
- Communicate the value of a coffee subscription
This was arguably the most important part of the website. Since most people don’t purchase their coffee through a subscription, we needed to convince users why it’s a better option.
- Make the process as clear and easy as possible
With any new kind of product or service that people aren’t used to, it’s critical to make sure the product is as easy to understand as possible. We invested a lot of time to make sure the process was dead simple as we didn’t want to lose users due to a confusing interface.
- Present the coffee as a premium product
The quality of the coffee was a key selling point of the product so we needed to make sure all aspects of the graphic design were on point to communicate that the coffee was a premium product. Daily Audio Bible wanted to target people who appreciate high quality coffee but wanted to save time or experience new blends by letting someone else pick them.
With a clearly defined strategy and path to success we set about designing the wireframes for each of the different pages of the site. This is a critical step between conceptual strategy and landing the final page designs.
Wireframing is essentially just the stage of creating the “blueprints” for each page. Wireframes can be created very quickly which allows for fast iteration and will usually reveal problems that can’t always be foreseen in the planning stages. Identifying problems at this stage is far more ideal since it’s easy to try new concepts. Getting to the later design stages or even the development stages can make major changes extremely difficult.
These are the wireframes that were created for the Coffee Club project.
With the final wireframes approved by Daily Audio Bible, we moved on to fleshing out the design in a more complete way. We added color, photography, typography, and other visual elements that make a website attractive and engaging.
In the case of the Coffee Club, we selected a visual theme of a modern rustic coffee house with a minimalistic vibe. We didn’t want to go overboard on aesthetics so we could still maintain the value of an overly simple interface but we wanted to be able to adequately sell the coffee as a premium product worth buying.
On final review, we were very pleased with the final design of the Coffee Club by Daily Audio Bible. We think it does a great job of showing off Daily Audio Bible coffee subscription service and the initial results from the launch have been very positive and encouraging. We hope this serve works well to support the works of the Daily Audio Bible and we were proud to lend our technical expertise for the project.
