Recently, we were approached by a local computer repair company in south Kansas City to redesign their website. They go by the name Regular Guy Computer Services to express their desire to project themselves as a down-to-earth and approachable alternative to other computer repair services that tout their “geekiness”.
Regular Guy needed a new, modern website that reflected their values of professionalism, excellence, and approachable service. Light Up the Dark was the perfect fit for the job and we were excited to get to work.
The development process
Like all of our clients, we took Regular Guy through our intensive development process, beginning with a strategy phase where we determine overall project goals, parameters, and milestones. We also always do a thorough analysis of competitors and current marketing conditions relevant to our client during this strategy phase.
After strategy for the project was landed, we began the wireframing phase where we create the rough structure of each page design. In essence, these wireframes serve as blueprints for all of the templates and pages of the website. Wireframes are a critical part of the process where we can identify user interface problems early and work through solutions before we are too committed to a design.
Once the wireframes were approved we fleshed them out with colors, photos, and typography. This is the stage for establishing brand presence and really developing the visual character of the website. With Regular Guy, we kept things very clean, modern, and professional with a bright, monochromatic color scheme and minimal flat design.
Finally, we headed into the development phase of the Regular Guy website. At this stage we take all of the mockups and wireframes and build them out into a fully functioning website. This part takes the longest to make sure everything is working right and to meticulously develop every page to respond fluidly to all device displays. However, with the right planning in the previous phases, development and coding can go much smoother.
In review
The brand new website for Regular Guy turned out beautiful and we are very happy with the final result. We think its clean, professional design and simple aesthetic express clearly Regular Guy’s dedication to quality and personal service.
